As a young mother, I was reasonably ignorant when raising my firstborn. My biggest regret is that I didn't help her take better care of her teeth. Like many people, I didn't realise the importance of baby teeth, resulting in long-term dental problems. Recently, my daughter got married and some of my tears were for the beautiful, glistening smile she presented to the cameras. Ever since I realised the dental damage I had caused, I had been saving for my daughter to have cosmetic dentistry. The results are remarkable. During the course of this journey, I have learnt a lot about caring for children's teeth and corrective procedures that can be undertaken when issues arise. I am sure many of you would be interested in the latest knowledge and techniques that are available to prevent and repair dental complications. I'm Margret Devlin - thanks for visiting.
In the past, finding a dentist meant that you had to look for a specific person because the industry was dominated by individual practitioners. However, the dentistry field has transformed immensely over the last few decades. For example, solo dental practices are not as feasible as they once were. Today, some dentists prefer to work in a group dental practice rather than go solo, and the benefits cannot be ignored. Notably, group dental practices are run by two or more dentists under one roof. Therefore, if you are looking for a dentist, here are reasons to opt for one who is part of a group dental practice.
Affordable Rates -- There is a common misconception that dentists charge expensively for any dental procedure. However, people do not realise that the cost of oral care is much less than the consequences of poor oral health. However, it does not change the fact that some dentists price their rates higher than others for various reasons. For instance, solo dentists need a lot of startup capital to buy equipment, register their practice, hire staff, and lease an office. Therefore, they are likely to charge a premium to recoup their initial capital. On the other hand, dentists working under a group dental practice can afford to charge slightly less because expenses are shared. Moreover, group dental practices can easily grow a large pool of clients and afford to charge competitive rates.
Different Services Under One Roof -- Most people see a general or family dentist first when they have a problem because the professional can perform most procedures efficiently. However, some cases might need the services of a specialist dentist rather than a general practitioner. For instance, a general dentist can refer you to a pediatric dentist who can examine your toddler's dental formula. However, if a dentist is a solo practitioner, you have to walk or drive to a pediatric dentist's office. A group dental practice eliminates such inconvenience by providing specialist services under one roof. The reason is that all dentists, general and specialists, share the same office. Therefore, you do not have to worry about commuting.
Access to State-of-the-Art Equipment -- Dentistry equipment used for various procedures is constantly improving, benefiting patients and dentists. Thus, dentists should try to invest in new equipment to enhance their services as much as possible. However, new dentistry tools can be pricey, and dentists running solo practices might not have the financial muscle to make such purchases. Although hire purchase is an option for a solo practitioner, it makes little financial sense because one ends up paying over the odds. Group dental practices can accumulate funds and invest in state-of-the-art dental equipment. Even if they lack funds, group dental practices readily qualify for loans compared to solo dentists.
